🍲 How to Cook Buddha Ratana Himalayan Yellow Soyabean
Ingredients:
-
1 cup Buddha Ratana Himalayan Yellow Soyabeans
-
3–4 cups water for cooking
-
Salt, to taste
-
¼ tsp turmeric, optional
Method:
-
Sort & Wash the Soyabeans
Check the beans and remove any unwanted particles. Rinse thoroughly 2–3 times with clean water. -
Soak Thoroughly
Soak the soyabeans in plenty of water for 8–12 hours or overnight. They will expand as they absorb water. -
Drain & Rinse
Drain the soaking water and rinse the beans once more with fresh water. -
Pressure Cook
Add the soaked soyabeans to a pressure cooker with 3–4 cups fresh water. Add salt and turmeric if desired. -
Cook Until Tender
Pressure cook on medium heat for approximately 5–7 whistles, then allow the pressure to release naturally. Cooking time can vary depending on the age and firmness of the beans and the type of pressure cooker used. -
Check the Texture
The soyabeans should be completely tender and easily mashable when pressed. If they remain firm, add a little hot water and pressure cook for another 1–2 whistles. -
Use in Your Favourite Recipe
Once cooked, use the soyabeans in curries, soups, salads, stir-fries, or other preparations.
💡 Cooking Tip
Soaking is essential for whole soyabeans. Soak them generously overnight and ensure they are thoroughly cooked before eating. For curries and gravies, cooking the beans until completely tender allows them to absorb the flavours of the spices much better.
🌱 Sprouting Buddha Ratana Yellow Soyabeans
Yellow Soyabeans can also be prepared as sprouts:
-
Wash and soak the soyabeans overnight.
-
Drain the water thoroughly.
-
Transfer to a clean, damp cloth or sprouting container.
-
Keep covered in a warm, clean place and allow them to sprout.
-
Once sprouted, use promptly in your preferred recipe.
For food safety, use clean equipment and suitable hygienic conditions when sprouting.
