Discover the authentic taste of the Himalayas with Buddha Ratana Himalayan Munsiyari Rajma, carefully sourced from the pristine Munsiyari region of Uttarakhand, renowned for its distinctive mountain-grown kidney beans.
Grown in the cool Himalayan climate and fertile mountain soils, these premium rajma are prized for their small size, rich maroon colour, creamy texture, and naturally sweet, earthy flavour. Their delicate size and buttery consistency make them especially enjoyable in traditional Indian and Himalayan cooking.
Unlike larger kidney bean varieties, Munsiyari Rajma is valued for its relatively quick cooking time. Their naturally creamy texture allows them to absorb onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, cumin, and other aromatic spices beautifully. Use them to prepare authentic Rajma Curry, rice dishes, soups, stews, and traditional Himalayan recipes.
Naturally providing plant-based protein and dietary fibre, Munsiyari Rajma makes a versatile addition to wholesome everyday meals. At Buddha Ratana, the beans are carefully sorted, cleaned, hygienically processed, and thoughtfully packed, with no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives.

🍲 How to Cook Buddha Ratana Himalayan Munsiyari Rajma
Ingredients:
-
1 cup Buddha Ratana Himalayan Munsiyari Rajma
-
3–4 cups water for soaking
-
2–3 cups fresh water for pressure cooking
-
Salt, to taste
-
¼ tsp turmeric, optional
Method:
-
Sort & Wash
Check the rajma and remove any unwanted particles. Rinse thoroughly 2–3 times with clean water. -
Soak Thoroughly
Soak the rajma in plenty of water for 8–12 hours or overnight. This helps hydrate the beans and promotes more even cooking. -
Drain & Rinse
Discard the soaking water and rinse the beans once with fresh water. -
Pressure Cook
Add the soaked rajma to a pressure cooker with approximately 2–3 cups of fresh water. Add turmeric if desired. -
Cook in Just 2–3 Whistles
Cook on medium heat for approximately 2–3 whistles. Allow the pressure to release naturally. -
Check for Tenderness
The rajma should be completely tender and easily mashable. Cooking time can vary slightly depending on the batch, soaking time, and pressure cooker, so check before using. -
Prepare Your Rajma Curry
Add the cooked beans to your favourite onion-tomato masala with ginger, garlic, cumin, and aromatic spices. Simmer gently so the rajma absorbs the flavours. -
Serve Hot
Enjoy with steamed rice, jeera rice, roti, or chapati.
💡 Special Cooking Tip
Munsiyari Rajma is a small, quick-cooking variety. After proper overnight soaking, it generally takes only 2–3 whistles in a pressure cooker to become tender.
Avoid overcooking, as these naturally creamy beans can become very soft. For the best texture, allow the pressure to release naturally and check the beans after cooking.
