🥞 How to Make Quinoa Flour Cheela

Simple & Wholesome Homemade Preparation

1. Prepare the Batter
Take 1 cup Buddha Ratana Quinoa Flour in a mixing bowl. Add water gradually and whisk until you have a smooth, pourable batter.

2. Add Seasoning
Add salt and your choice of finely chopped vegetables, coriander, green chilli, cumin or other seasonings.

3. Rest the Batter
Allow the batter to rest for approximately 10–15 minutes. Add a little more water if required to achieve a smooth, spreadable consistency.

4. Cook
Heat a tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it. Pour a portion of the batter onto the hot tawa and spread gently into a round shape.

5. Flip & Finish
Cook until the underside is lightly golden and the edges begin to firm. Flip carefully and cook the other side until done.

6. Serve Hot
Serve with curd, chutney, vegetables or your favourite accompaniment.

👨🍳 Cooking Tip

Quinoa flour has a naturally delicate structure. For rotis and parathas, blending it with another suitable flour can make the dough easier to handle and improve the final texture. For cheela and pancakes, a smooth, well-hydrated batter generally gives the best results.

🫓 Quinoa Flour Roti & Paratha

Quinoa flour can be used in flatbread preparations, but because it is naturally gluten-free, it does not develop the elastic structure associated with wheat flour.

For easier handling:

1. Combine quinoa flour with a suitable flour or binding ingredient according to the recipe.
2. Add warm water gradually and prepare a soft dough.
3. Allow the dough to rest briefly.
4. Shape gently using your hands or between sheets of parchment/butter paper.
5. Cook on a preheated tawa until both sides are cooked and lightly golden.

🥣 More Ways to Enjoy Quinoa Flour

Quinoa Dosa

Add quinoa flour to a suitable dosa batter along with ingredients such as rice flour or urad dal. Prepare a smooth, pourable batter and cook thinly on a hot tawa.

Quinoa Pancakes

Combine quinoa flour with milk or water, along with your preferred sweet or savoury ingredients. Cook on a lightly greased pan until golden and cooked through.

Quinoa Baking

Quinoa flour can be incorporated into selected bread, muffin, cookie and pancake recipes. It may be used alone in suitable recipes or blended with other flours depending on the desired texture.

Quinoa Paratha

Use quinoa flour as part of a flatbread blend with suitable binding ingredients. Add spices, herbs or vegetables for a flavourful savoury preparation.

Kalanamak is a heritage, short-grain variety grown specifically in the Himalayan Terai. Unlike Basmati, it has a distinct dark tip, a nuttier flavour, and a softer texture. It is naturally aged and minimally processed to preserve its unique nutritional profile.
Yes, Kalanamak is known for having a lower Glycemic Index (GI) compared to many standard white rice varieties. This means it digests slower, helping to prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar levels.
A Geographical Indication (GI) tag ensures that the rice is authentically sourced from its native region (Siddharthnagar and surrounding districts in UP). It guarantees you are getting the genuine heritage grain, not a hybrid grown elsewhere.
Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it for 20-30 minutes before cooking. Use a water-to-rice ratio of about 2:1. Cook on a low simmer until the water is absorbed, then let it rest covered for 5 minutes for the perfect fluffy texture.
Store the rice in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place. Kept away from moisture and direct sunlight, our Kalanamak rice easily maintains its aroma and quality for up to 12 months.
