🫓 How to Make Barnyard Millet Roti
Simple Homemade Method
1. Prepare the Flour
Take 1 cup Buddha Ratana Barnyard Millet Flour in a mixing bowl. Add salt according to taste if desired.
2. Add Warm Water
Gradually add warm water while mixing until the flour comes together.
3. Prepare the Dough
Knead gently into a soft, smooth dough. Millet flour does not contain gluten like wheat flour, so the dough will naturally be more delicate.
4. Shape the Roti
Divide the dough into small portions. Gently flatten each portion between your palms or pat it into a round shape using a little dry flour or parchment/butter paper to make handling easier.
5. Cook on a Tawa
Place the roti carefully on a preheated tawa over medium heat. Cook until the underside develops light brown spots.
Flip gently and cook the other side until done. A few drops of ghee can be added while cooking for extra flavour.
6. Serve Hot
Serve immediately with ghee, curd, dal, sabzi, chutney or your favourite accompaniment.
👨🍳 Cooking Tip
Barnyard Millet flour can absorb water differently depending on the batch and recipe. Add warm water gradually and adjust the quantity until you achieve a soft, workable dough. Because the flour is naturally gluten-free, gentle handling helps prevent the roti from breaking.
